Although my boss says I’ve done a good job in my role (I’m the first hire in the department and created all processes, reports, etc) he wants to hire someone over me with less experience (less in both industry and general work experience). He has never given me negative feedback, and when I’ve asked for constructive criticism, he says he doesn’t have any specific area for me to improve or advice.
C and VP levels at the company have complimented my work and publicly thanked me, but my boss still wants to hire someone over me. I told him I would be happy to have a boss I could learn this specific function from, yet his job req does not reflect the requirements for someone with any experience. Any thoughts on how to handle this situation? I’ve tried meeting with my current boss to discuss but he only brushes it off. This job req also came about after I reported a coworker (who left the company after) who had made sexist comments/threats. Is this just retaliation?
