“Why work here” for a job you’re not excited about?
I’ll preface this by saying - yes I should just be applying to jobs/companies I’m excited about. But I’m going on 3 months of unemployment and the market in my industry is tight and I need to be able to pay the rent!
I have an interview for tomorrow with a hiring manager and I anticipate being asked why, especially since it will be a very different type of company and slight backtrack position-wise (not much or anything I’m concerned about for career development).
I do have a couple things I can point out about the team, and that I’m well suited to do the job. But in all my other interviews I’ve been able to explain the “bigger picture” for my interest in the company. This would definitely be more of a job I could do very well vs fitting into my passions or my career trajectory.
Does anyone have advice for how to explain “why” in a scenario like this? ?
