One thing that has bothered me lately is the narrative surrounding "women in power.
" I have to say, that the worst managers I've encountered throughout my career were WOMEN. I came to the conclusion that they were threatened by the idea of being replaced by another woman. I never experienced any support or a helping hand from another woman. This group is very supportive and, in most cases, offers great advice. However, Talk is not getting me any closer to getting hired. When I was in a position to hire, I always looked at potential vs. qualifications. Women have many stories and setbacks (caregivers, medical recovery, ageism) and sometimes just need a chance, especially when faced with restarting their professional journey. So, I'm left wondering - where are these women champions who are actually helping other women? Where are these female hiring managers and/or recruiters that are actually giving women a chance for success in getting hired and paid their worth by challenging the current employment practices?
