Topics for my Blog

Hi everyone, I love writing and I want to start my blog page but one tiny problem. I don't know what to write about! Please help me! Can I write about whatever I want ( sort of like a personal journal) or should the articles be around one topic/theme? As you all can see, I am very confused. Please help.

Maybe write about your mentor(s) in life. The ones that inspire you to get up and be the best you. Maybe the one that helped inspire you starting a blog. Then maybe turn it into a discussion around how you are going to actively mentor or how we, your reader, can mentor.

Hey Nandita! Writing about what you love is definitely one thing. But I would also suggest you to once look at some topic which you always wanted to learn, something which always piqued your interest; but yet don't know much about it. For instance- Finance and Investments. When you start working on it; it will be difficult. You need to put in a lot of reading, but then it will evolve into a wonderful journey. And when you look back, it will make you proud of yourself! Good Luck! :)

Talk about your journey. How did you start? What moves did you make? One if my favorite is what advice would you give your younger self. Start a conversation with yourself. Interview yourself.

Good suggestions. But how do I find some blogs to read? (I recently started a blog also. I expect it will be read only by my friends or relatives...if anyone.)

I think you should get inspiration by reading blogs. There are lifestyle bloggers who share about their daily lives and interests (like the personal journal you mentioned) and there are also blogs that only focus one specific topic. I think it would be good if you could chose 2 or 3 topics so your readers have an idea of what to expect, but you also have enough range to not feel limited.

I agree that writing about what you are passionate about is key. Before you begin, I would step back to understand what you are trying to achieve with the blog. Is it an just an outlet for your creative juices since you love writing? Is it to position yourself as an expert in some area? Is it to share experiences that you think others can learn from? Is it something else? Once you know your "why" the content might be easier to decide on.

Excellent advice! Start writing down each time you think if a topic that you want to write out and you'll create the beginning of your topic list. Then, like all other new things, just start. Write one, edit as needed, write another. See if a theme emerges. I recently started a blog and it's already evolved a bunch in theme and topics so I'm just trying to enjoy the process and see where it goes, what resonates with others, and what I'm excited to share about.

I agree, write what you are passionate about. Most successful blogs have found a niche, but if you have many interests just write what you want. Pinterest has loads of helpful tips on various blogging topics. I had a brief blog a few yrs ago that helped me through a tough emotional time. Others have been blogging for years. Good luck!
