I am about 6 months into a new role in a new industry & company. The job description that I responded to sounded exciting and like it would provide a strong fit for my background, and the title (Director-level) was commensurate with my last. After being in the role for a number of months, I'm finding that the actual job responsibilities are more similar to what would have been a manager or sr. specialist at my previous company/industry. For context, I moved from retail to healthcare and am finding their function in my area is a lot less sophisticated. I haven't yet had the conversation with my supervisor to state that I feel the role is very discrepant from the job description and would like more challenging work. Can anyone provide some input as to how to go about facilitating this dialogue? I don't want it come off like I feel that I'm "too advanced" for the organization or role, but honestly, I really am not growing from this move/role in a way that will benefit my career long term. I'm receiving good feedback from my boss and other stakeholders, so it seems like there could be an openness to providing higher-level responsibilities. Thanks!
