Can you clarify what you have on your LI profile now? If it shows that you're not working, I always recommend jobseekers fill in holes if they can.
Personally, I think it's better to show you're working - especially if you are - that to make it look like you've been out of work for six months.
I'm not sure what you're thinking the downside of listing this position on your profile would be - do you have it on your resume?
You can list it as a contract role so if recruiters or hiring managers are looking at your profile, they can tell you're probably looking for a permanent position.
