Any International Development folks? Or career search/pivot advice?
Hi all! I recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with my Masters degree in International Educational Development, focusing on ed in emergencies and policy.
One silver lining of COVID, transitioning to distance learning allowed me to finish my degree a semester ahead of schedule! Which lead to...finding a job in the current economic crisis.
I've been applying steadily and doing several informational interviews every month, and I'm really starting to feel the burn out. While my passion is really in emergency response and refugee rights, I've been considering taking my job search focus to more domestic NGOs rather than INGOs just to widen the scope of possibility, even though that's not where my career experience necessarily is.
Anyone having similar thoughts or experiences, or suggestions on what I can be doing to put myself out there more? I feel like I'm doing all the right things, and I know that right now it's a lot about the market and not always me as a candidate, but maybe if I've been doing the same things since June it's time to shake things up!
