I was supporting someone ~20% of the time who 100% did not want me hired. She didn't have any input into my annual reviews and my main boss was incredibly supportive. I would take any conflicts or concerns to my main boss and let her make the final call about what I did next. Sometimes I liked her decision, sometimes I didn't. But I let her set the boundaries with the jerk and then did what I needed to do. Eventually was promoted out of supporting the jerk, and eventually had the opportunity to get that duty removed from our team entirely. Years later (after the jerk was gone), one of my staff started doing backup for that position again and I was able to negotiate a raise over it.
If everyone else is great, it's still possible to work around the crappy person who is the least part of the your job. Good luck!
