I was laid off in May 2024. This was my third layoff (for a total of 5) in the last 5 years.
I feel I’m stuck in a position I took 8 months ago at a low level and very low salary because I was desperate. No other offers. I was running out of unemployment.…

I just got a job offer on December 28th. So some places are hiring in the midst of the holidays. I was also rejected after going through 2 or 3 interviews and I thought I'd never get a job. And this job is perfect for me. So hang in there and don't give up. Please believe in yourself.

Definitely not alone! It’s been about 8 months now for me job searching, but I was surprised to get two interviews on the books in the last two weeks after months of hearing nothing! I’ve also applied to any retail/ food industry jobs and been given the overqualified reason for not being hired. Frustrating to say the least, hang in there! I’ve really tired to focus on the truth that any rejection is never a reflection of the value I hold as a person. Easier said than done, but I know I’ve needed that reminder! Aside from that, I’ve found any free trainings, research, or reading to help me in my field has helped me feel productive. And, depending on you or anyone else reading, if you have spiritual beliefs digging into them as a source of comfort and growth too. I know it’s helped me when I’ve felt I had nothing left to give in this whole process. Hopefully we all can enter the new year getting to celebrate having more interviews or a job offer for those of us in the search!!
