Has anyone gone through the process of being certified as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) or Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB)? Is it hard? I'm a Modern Calligrapher and I teach virtual hand lettering workshops for companies. Lately I've been booking bigger/higher profile events and I've noticed that for larger companies there is usually a section in the vendor profile set up for identifying as a diverse small business. I'm wondering if it's worth it to try to get certified. I'd love to hear your thoughts and personal experiences with this!

If you can do it, YES! I can't think of a city or municipality I've done business with who doesn't have some sort of goal for minority / women owned spending. Were I live there is also a MICRO business certification, which it sounds like you would qualify. It will open up some new opportunities to you - It can only help!

Ooh thanks for the tip about the micro business certification! I'll have to look into that one. Have you applied for the certification? Is it a hard/long process?

Personally have not been through the process. It can be tedious. And I believe every state does it a little different. Good luck to you!

Also good to know, thank you again! My brother is a lawyer and he's going to help me figure it all out. It seems pretty straightforward but these things always make me nervous lol

I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who has been through the process!
