Done With Temp Agencies
I tried to update my availability with a local temp agency.
They pressed me for references. I had questions about the positions they were offering. I was told that they can't help me because the last 4 years of my experience was remote.
Ummm.... We had a WORLDWIDE pandemic less than 5 years ago! What about the other 6 years of my experience? Bi-lingual, billing, collections, call center, transcription, grant writing, medical coding, etc... AREN'T THOSE TRANSFERABLE skills? :-/
Their little computer bot kept requesting that I send references. I asked my references to disregard their email and we've all blocked them! (Too many "other" choices....NEXT!)
Has anyone else experienced this?

Any illness keeping you from work is a disability.
Sometimes companies get tax credits for hiring you. Other times they use it to fire you when you get sick again from something else. None of it is legal, they just know your body is weaker than other people’s, and that you probably won’t fight them.

I'm a software developer from China, my plan for this year is to try to find remote jobs on foreign sites, can anyone give me some advice?
My current situation is that the main languages I use are PHP and C#, and I know some front-end work (vue2), and I have the ability to develop a set of software (front-end and back-end) independently, but most of the project experience is OA system

Does this sound strange to you?
I recently started a new Director-level position with an organization. One of the projects I'm working on is with someone at the associate level. In either working on this project, or just getting acclimated (when I was told by the Executive Director to ask this person about whatever I need) I'm astounded at the number of times I've asked a question and this person has repsonded with ask Ted (our ED).
For example, this person is going to be out of parental leave beginning tomorrow and mentioned that they wouldn't be able to start the Zoom for a meeting that we are supposed to have with another team member (not the ED), and this person said that we should speak to the ED about the Zoom. I responded that I could just send a new Zoom invite and that I could manage it.
I'm kind of flabbergasted frankly, because even when I was in more junior level positions I would never imagine bringing the number of pretty minor things to the ED of any of the nonprofits that I worked for. What's also an interesting dimension, is that the ED has shared with me several times that this person can be a bit dramatic, and I have to wonder if running minor things by him like who can send a Zoom invite is one of the reasons why the ED thinks that of this person.
Also for additional context, the ED has a reputation for being laid back and fair, so it's not as if we're dealing with a tyrant here.

Not Related to My Work
My husband is in the difficult process of beginning to look for a new job after being with his current employer for almost 20 years. There have been some management changes, and it seems that friends of the new manager are slowly and surely replacing everyone in his department, so the writing is kind of on the wall.
While he has been fortunate enough to work for a single employer during our relationship going back to when we were dating, I have changed positions multiple times (each time moving up the ladder a little bit each time, until I've now reached the Director level. I have also completed two graduate degrees alongside my professional growth.
Last night, at dinner with my in-laws, my husband went to the bathroom, and his parents asked ME how the new resume writing was going and what the job hunt was. I had shared that I had given my husband some feedback on what he had shared with me but that I hadn't seen anything new recently. My husband and I have butt heads a few times on this because, frankly, it seems to me that he's dragging his feet. His parents went on to say that I was the best person to help him revamp his resume and basically made it sound like they expected me to make sure that not only did he rework his resume but that he also got a new job.
I don't understand how any of this is my responsibility since, first, he's a grown adult, and second, when I have changed jobs, I've done that on my own without his help because he doesn't know anything about my sector to be helpful. It was just so outrageous.

I have been working for this company now almost 5 months. I absolutely hate it. Now I have even more of a reason to as the management team and other higher ups are some of the most immature, petty and toxic individuals I've ever had the displeasure og having to work with.
I keep to myself, do my work, take the constructive feedback and turn it into a positive however, they've always got an issue.
My direct manager is the one who informed me an an issue where if you need to explain why you are away in Slack (I'm a cx associate so they feel the need to know every minor detail of your whereabouts all day) so if I state that I am away due to hand-holding a cx (as everyone also does) this particular person will tattletale to my Mgr, who took an issue w the person who told her this.
I plan to tell my Mgr during our 1:1 this week that I am unsure if I am making the right choice with my career at this job, due to the toxicity and child like behavior. (it'll be worded better but this is pretty much the idea) my boss tells me how I'm crushing stuff, so idk where the bs comes from. As I mentioned I do keep to myself and am I do exchange pleasantries, but I'm not interested in the rah rah of gerring to know these people. I'm 40 and they're all mostly in their 20s, so again I'm not their friend.
Am I wrong for sharing this w my Mgr? Should I approach it differently? I'm already seeking a new role, have been since I took this role. Just over the bs.
