After losing my position, I'm on the job hunt and considering taking a step back in title.
After my last job, I'm exhausted and tired of the game plying at my former level. Is it a career mistake to do so? While the salary wouldn't be as high, some jobs depending on the companies are comparable. I worked hard to reach this level but at the same time, I want to go in, do my job and be able to leave at the end of the day instead of having to take work home to have more of a work-life balance. I'd appreciate your thoughts!

I can't take a step back but monetarily but there are companies were manager level is comparable to director salaries. While I may regret down the road not having the 'power' to direct project, at this stage, I'm tired of the game playing and ready to be able to go in and do my job and have a work life balance. The last role really took a toll but I'm hoping it doesn't set me backwards in the future.
