As a national tech training nonprofit, NPower has been moving individuals from vulnerable communities into quality employment for the last decade. Over the past two years we have put an intentional spotlight on the severe lack of representation of Black and Latinx women in the tech field and have made strides in recruiting and placing young women in entry level jobs around the country, through our #40by22 initiative. NPower’s #40by22 initiative, with support from Citi Foundation, is focused on increasing the enrollment of young women of color in our programs across the country to 40% by 2022, along with increased representation of Black and Latina women on our instructor staff to 40%. This initiative is more important than ever, as the impact from this pandemic will create higher income inequity and significant hardships - especially for women of color in tech. We believe an inclusive recovery is possible, but it will take intention, investment, innovation, and collaboration to ensure women of color are not overlooked. Join us virtually on June 18th at 1:00 PM ET for the launch of our new research report, Breaking Through, Rising Up: Strategies for Propelling Women of Color in Technology. This original paper delves into the societal, educational, economic and cultural barriers limiting young women of color from pursuing and thriving in careers in technology. Through the key highlights, insights, and stories shared during the event, we aim to encourage collective and intentional efforts by service providers, employers, and funders to invest in proven strategies and approaches. #WOCintech #diversityintech | Fairygodboss
