That’s the name of a book “Women Don’t Ask l” by Dr. Linda Babcock who teaches at Carnegie Mellon and the same topic. Great read. We don’t generally ask or negotiate.

I think it is because we are so used to doing for others and expecting nothing in return that we fail to advocate for ourselves.
It's not that we think ourselves undeserving; it is more that we don't think we should have to ask to get what we've earned... and we aren't aware that men have no qualms with asking and reap the benefits of it. When I let go of my hesitation, I started being offered more than what I asked for. The confidence in negotiating is where value is observed.

Love this Saidah! I’m guilty of giving more than I receive. Although asking isn’t something that I struggle with, I understand that some women struggle in that space, along with self-advocacy and confidence.
