On Sunday, at night, I’ve decided to watch “On the Basis of Sex”. As a Brazilian, I must say I’m a little far from knowing everything about north American world of laws, although, as a woman, I must say Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a legend.
The movie talks about RBD journey in a simple and probably superficial way. In mid-50s, Ruth was a Harvard student, one of the nine, between a class of 500 people. Yes, and she studied Law. Back then, it was completely outrageous. One of the scenes that I was completely shocked is when the dean asks, “why you deserve to be here occupying a place that should be a man’s?”.
The whole journey is filled with sexism and gender discrimination and of course, as we all know, she fought the system and became of the most important women in her and future generations.
The notorious RBD made a big statement and as a woman, nowadays, I say: we need to make a big statement!
We need to fight for our rights, our places, and the equality, which seems still forgotten.
I highly recommend this movie and the documentary “RBG”.
