Are you missing out on a FREE Harvard education?
One thing that can really impress a potential employer is your dedication to lifelong learning. I've written/edited over 1000 resumes in the past 2 years and followed up with my clients for results. One thing I've heard is that employers like seeing that you are self-motivated to continue learning.
I've taken courses from Edx.org, Coursera.org, and Udemy.com. I also created specific courses for non-profit marketing that many people took.
Did I mention FREE? While you most likely won't get a certificate, you DO get the training and can list the course on your resume. This shows a) motivation, b) ability to learn, c) willingness to go the extra mile. Who wouldn't want to hire someone like that?
If you are laid off, furloughed, or even on maternity leave, take the time and learn! Google free online courses and sign up today. It might be the one thing that differentiates you from the herd.
Cheers

For anyone with a paid LinkedIn account, the LinkedIn Learning courses are also worth checking out. Plus, when you complete them, it shows up on your LinkedIn profile (if you want it to), which again makes it easy for recruiters or hiring managers looking at your profile to see that you are dedicated to continuing education.

I also enjoy Plurasight and Coursera - the certificate world vs degreed world is going to be an interesting dynamic in the future.

Coursera is great! I highly recommend Yale's course, "The Science of Well Being". I've read that it's the most popular course in Yale's history. It's a self-paced course and its free!
