Absolutely Keri!! In its simplest form, office politics is the process and behavior in human interactions involving power and authority. I chose to stay on the sidelines when there was a game in play. I’m not suggesting that anyone lose their authenticity, professionalism or engage in unethical behavior but there were connectors, influential people, individuals who talked promotion over meals and I decided that I “wasn’t going out after work.”

Well now, this post had a surprising effect on me. Are these really "mistakes" I've made? Worth taking a look at that. I don't suppose I've ever had a "plan or strategy" for my career - maybe that's why I'm still swimming around in the middle management fishbowl.
Could you expand on #2: "Avoid office politics". Are you saying it's better to get involved?
