Thank you so much Susan. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’ve heard people comment about how undeserving people are of promotion in comparison to someone else when in fact the individual leveraged their relationships which resulted in advocacy. The invisible rules are sabotaging the success of women in today’s work spaces! I, like you remember the days of your work speaking for you; now you need the work as well as someone speaking for you.

Burning desire to make the working world better
This is really good advice. I find, for myself and other women I know, are particularly internally focused and don't do as much observing of others. Oh yes, we do see how others are getting treated better or are getting ahead, but not necessarily taking an objective view about why them and what are they doing that's working out so well. I know I was raised to believe hard and honest work would be the way to success, but that's not always enough.
