When it comes to the people and things that matter most, make sure you are giving them the BEST of you and not just the REST of you. The ONLY way you can do that is to set firm BOUNDARIES - boundaries that have YOUR best interest at heart and then the interest and intent of everything and everyone else. When you do this, you are not being self-ish you are being self-ful. When you recognize the difference, everyone benefits.

Agreed! Sometimes we learn lessons the hard way but when we finally do...life changes for the better.

This is such a great reminder, especially for those of us who started working from home last year. It can be really challenging to set boundaries when you're only ever a few steps away from your desk!

Wise advice! In some cases, having a deep bench of crossover skills can backfire if you're not setting boundaries. In other words, just because you can do what needs to be done, doesn't mean you should be the one to do it. Except in start up situations where everyone scrambles and switches hats all the time, it's a good idea to make a habit of "staying in your lane" unless it's a critical situation that needs your expertise to solve.
