I was laid off because of COVID and there is nothing on the horizon. My industry is struggling anyway and the pandemic just made it worse. I’d consider a pivot, but to what? I’ve applied to two dozen jobs and haven’t even gotten a call back.

Don’t limit yourself to industry; you have transferable skills that transcend what you’ve done previously. Step 1 is clarity: knowing what you want to do and leveraging your skills in your resume to attract employers. Step 2 is relationships: at least 80% of jobs are filled through networking. Who are you connected to that should have your resume and can accelerate your path to being hired? Step 3: your interviewing skills must be exceptional.

I've been told that you should have 75% of the skills on a job description before you apply, use the same language as the job description in your resume and state you are a quick learner so you can hit the ground running quickly. Good luck!

Hello, I would like to know as a person who's looking to making a career change if you see a particular job posting and you have some of the qualifications a company has to offer but don't have say "CPA" experience is it okay to apply?
