Reading this post made me smile - so very true! I have some guy friends who I sometimes bounce ideas off of when job searching, and they have said the same thing when I was interested in jobs that were a bit of a stretch for me. So I've had confirmation that their mindset is "of course I don't have to meet ALL the requirements!". It can be good to get slightly out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself a little... No harm in applying if you meet a reasonable amount of the criteria!

Increasing success through authentic leadership
Having put plenty of job specs together I'd completely agree with this. A job spec is my wishlist - you have to start somewhere and then see what applicants you get. The other thing thats important is to see that you may be misunderstanding the level of expertise needed. If a job looks interesting and you can satisfy part of it why not have a go! And if you don't get through it doesn't mean it was because of this - just that there were applicants who were better suited. But if you don't try you'll never know!

You don't need to have all the qualifications to apply, but unless you meet at least 80% of them don't expect anyone to call you in for an interview. At least that's been my experience.

100% - women at least need to apply to these "reach" jobs! Or at least the ones they perceive to be reach jobs.

I drive words to emotions - in marketing & life.
Happens to me all the time! And then a plus stage - I can do better than that fellow (who didn't think twice before applying and is now sitting pretty)

I applied for a job once that I wasn't really qualified for. I immediately got a call from HR, who had just received a request for a new position that hit my qualifications exactly. What can you lose?
