I work in software for a third party logistics company. I started the first week of this year. It took me a couple of weeks to be comfortable with the fact that I was hired to make decisions. I was so use to having to wait for approval from the top or not being comfortable voicing my opinion. In the new role I found myself going to my CIO asking if it was ok to do or try certain things and he would say I don't know you tell me. I would stare at him thinking does he not know or is he trying to get me to make the decision. It took time to shift the way I was use to working because I felt no one trusted my opinion. I just had my 30 day review and my ability to speak up and make decision without hand holding was praised by the executive team. I felt empowered and confident that I have finally found a job that values me.
