Facebook offers a 30-calendar-day paid leave that may be granted by Facebook once every 5 years of service.
Workplace groups are heavily used to support new parents, moms, dads and PRIDE (LGBTQ) parents.
We want everyone at Facebook to be able to do impactful work and live a fulfilling life. We trust our people to manage their time in ways that work for them and their team. As long as people are able to get your work done, they have the freedom to attend events, doctor appointments, commute during off hours, workout or whatever else their need to do. We also support working remotely one day per week when it works for your role, manager, and team.
The journey to becoming a parent starts long before pregnancy and we have competitive health care and several focused programs such as fertility support, adoption, and surrogacy and internal communities on Workplace to support everyone in their journey regardless of how they begin.
They can even participate in Expectant Parent Meet Up Groups or attend a CARE Session to learn all about benefits. Birth parents are provided 4 weeks pre-birth, 6-8 weeks of 100% paid maternity leave and all full-time employees also receive 4 months of paid Parental Leave leave to bond with their new child. Paid Parental Leave can be taken all at once or intermittently within one year after the birth or placement of your child.
Birth parents work at least 20 hours per week, are automatically eligible for this leave starting from their hire date. Maternity Leave runs before Facebook’s Paid Parental Leave begins. From the date of birth or adoption placement, Maternity Leave typically provides 6 weeks to recover from a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks from the date of birth for a C-section delivery. Maternity Leave can be extended if the doctor recommends and provides documentation for additional recovery time. A birth parent can start their Maternity Leave up to 4 weeks before their due date with the disability reason of pregnancy.
All employees are eligible to take 4 months of paid Parental leave to bond with a new child. Paid Parental Leave can be taken all at once or intermittently within one year after the birth or placement of your child. Parents who give birth can choose to take 4 weeks of paid maternity leave before birth and receive 6-8 weeks of maternity leave after the baby is born.
People on Paid Parental Leave receive the equivalent of up to 4 months of their base pay while on leave. Their pay may come from a variety of sources, including from any state leave programs they’re eligible for and from Facebook. For women on Maternity Leave, Short-Term Disability pays 100% of their base pay for weeks 2–16 and 70% of their base pay for weeks 17–26.
Facebook offers suite-style rooms where you can breastfeed or pump in peace and comfort, and even store milk. We also launched a discounted Breast Milk Shipping benefit that our new birth parents can combine their Baby Cash benefit to help cover any costs.
Facebook’s Paid Parental Leave can be used intermittently, which means people cam design a ramp-back plan that works for them.
We also offer Prenatal Wellness Support that include nutritional counseling during pregnancy through our health plan as well as access to general well-being support through a reimbursement benefit that can be used for mindfulness apps, fitness centers and training or massages.
We have recently launched robust Return To Work tool kits, videos and resources for our people, including tips for managers and HR Business Partners.
