      • Bonding Leave is different than Pregnancy Disability Leave. There are two parts to a leave of absence when giving birth: Leave Part 1: Pregnancy Disability Leave is a leave of absence for a birth event and/or when recovering from childbirth. Pregnancy Disability typically begins from your first day off work through 6-8 weeks post delivery. Your physician will determine when you are no longer disabled for the purpose of Pregnancy Disability. During Pregnancy Disability Leave, you will be paid 100% of your regular earnings (coordinated with statutory benefits where applicable). Once released from Pregnancy Disability you will transition to Part 2, Bonding Leave. Leave Part 2: Bonding Leave is a leave of absence for bonding for any parent to bond with their newborn, adopted or foster child. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid bonding Leave. You will be paid 100% of your regular earnings (coordinated with statutory benefits where applicable). Note: Birth mothers are eligible for a minimum of 18 weeks of paid leave. Bonding Leave will not begin until your Pregnancy Disability ends.
