In 2020, we strengthened our Diversity and Inclusion initiatives to make them critical to our core strategy. Tynika Wilson, our Senior Vice President of Debit Cards & Fund Services, chairs the Diversity and Inclusion Committee that strives to actively promote a diverse and inclusive work environment through policies, practices and programs that harness the power of individuality to foster stronger, more unified teams based upon principles of cultural sensitivity, equality and respect for all. We have an open forum of Social Communities that form support or interest groups throughout the credit union. Our Diversity and Inclusion Social Community has close to 2,700 members, openly discussing gender equality issues and helping enhance our inclusive workplace. We also have open professional development groups focused on women in technology, such as the Women in Cybersecurity peer and community of practice group founded by an employee soon after she joined our team.
Culture is the key to our success. Our culture helps us to attract and retain top talent while encouraging continuous development of our people. We leverage our culture as we transition to our future way of working.
Why our culture is special:
Navy Federal employees and members share a strong connection to our mission. This enables us to stand out in a competitive labor market, and it is very important to new generations of talent.
Strong leadership ensures that we continue to connect employees with our mission, our strategy and our progress in this new flexible hybrid model. We focus on “Moments that Matter” most throughout the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, celebrations, joint learning, team-building and social connections. We will continue to flourish in an environment where we care for each other, connect with each other and our members, and operate as one inclusive team.
We are focused on empowering our employees to drive change and innovation while speaking up and sharing their diverse thoughts and perspectives at all times. This helps our teams respond to provide the best solutions for our members.
Agile teams ensure that we deliver value for our members more quickly and pivot to meet their evolving needs.
We take a broader strategic view and drive collaboration across the entire organization to achieve our mission. Our employees are invested and committed to our digital transformation, which is how we will scale and grow Navy Federal.
Our culture fosters fully engaged employees who provide exceptional service to our members and ensure we are a Great Place to Work.
