At Cummins, we’re dedicated to Powering the Potential of our 78,000+ employees across the globe. That’s why we’ve launched a number of initiatives to ensure the success of our women employees including an updated parental leave policy, nursing mothers’ rooms that offer privacy for new moms who have recently returned to the office, and a variety of Women’s Empowerment employee resource groups.
We’re proud to host Cummins RePower, a SWE-sponsored initiative that helps those who have taken a break from the workforce to re-enter it through a six-month paid program. RePower helps match women in Engineering or IT roles with projects that match their expertise, interests, and abilities to re-enter the workforce in a meaningful way.
We also launched Cummins Powers Women, which is dedicated to bettering the lives of women and girls across the globe. In just two years, more than 100,000 people have been served by the program and eight laws and policies supporting gender equality have been changes. Last year more than 40 Cummins leaders and teams engaged in the program and nearly 2,000 employee hours were dedicated to advancing women and girls.

Diversity and inclusion have been a part of Cummins' core values for more than 40 years dating back to our CEO, J. Irwin Miller, who led the Company until 1977. Miller believed in the power of listening. He wanted to hear from a wide variety of voices before reaching a decision, believing no single gender, race, or ethnicity had a monopoly on wisdom. But we know that diversity for diversity sake does not drive success; it is inclusion, or how we use diversity, that is key. Inclusion means that employees accept the diversity of their peers and make them feel welcome and safe in the workplace. It is only when we are inclusive that we work most effectively- relying on the differences and strengths of all our employees. We welcome multiple viewpoints and voices, and we embrace the diverse perspectives of all people and honor both with dignity and respect. Cummins has a number of women and minorities among its senior leaders and we continually work toward a gender-balanced workforce.
