At Howard Hughes Holdings Inc., I am Director of Public Relations & Community Relations in the Houston region’s marketing department. I joined the marketing team in The Woodlands in 1998, not realizing at the time that I would truly begin and establish my career here. I am proud to be part of the success of The Woodlands, Texas—one of the most acclaimed master planned communities in the nation. I am also excited to be involved in the development of The Woodlands Hills, a newer master planned community north of The Woodlands. Recently at Howard Hughes, we have all witnessed Bridgeland reaching the status of #1 selling master planned community in Houston and #10 in the nation. Located in the Greater Houston area, all three of these award-winning master planned communities are part of the Howard Hughes.
Howard Hughes provides an inviting atmosphere to collaborate with fellow teammates and believes in giving back and sustaining communities by its philanthropic efforts. Through its HHCares initiatives, Howard Hughes gives all fulltime employees 24 hours each year to volunteer in their local communities. I have been able to volunteer in the community and in 2017, was recognized with the Viva Award for “Outstanding Involvement in Supporting the Community” from the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Houston – The Woodlands-Gulf Coast Chapter.
Howard Hughes offers a 1:1 match on donations to the charity of the employee’s choice. The company believes in personal growth, offering several educational programs and a personal growth fund allowing employees a yearly budget for non-job-related training.
Having the opportunity to work for Howard Hughes, I can work in the community that I reside in and have grown up in. I truly appreciate the work/life balance as Director, Public Relations & Community Relations at Howard Hughes.
In 2012, I was a consultant who worked on Howard Hughes’ first project in Hawaii called ONE Ala Moana. Then, in 2018, I was fortunate to have this opportunity to run the sales department, and to work with the development team at Ward Village to help bring this master plan to fruition. My job is very interdisciplinary, and I am lucky to be able to work hand in hand with a talented group in sales, marketing, development, accounting, construction—all of it.
I would summarize the excitement of my work here in two words: opportunity and creativity. The opportunity to be a part of creating a master planned community is both a great honor and responsibility. To be able to have my dream job right here in Hawaii is something I never imagined. Creativity with the overall team is what makes it fun and gives me energy. My job has guidelines of course, but we have the ability to create value and business plans and we are trusted to bring them over the finish line. That combination of opportunity and creativity is what drives me and gives me the energy to bring my best every day.
