"American Express as a whole prides itself on being as diverse and balanced as possible and offering as much flexibility as possible. However the actual practice of these values varies by department. My manager is awesome and allows me as much flexibility as possible but that is not consistent across my entire department, which causes significant strife. The company's benefits are very generous - especially the new 5 month paid maternity leave policy in the U.S."

"American Express implemented 20 weeks of paid maternity leave in 2016. When I had my baby they offered 12 weeks paid leave - I used 4 weeks of accrued vacation time with no issues."

"Flexibility and work-life balance is great. They are trying to advance more women. Like many other companies they focus on those under 35. No real opportunities for development if you are a women who took time off and returning to the work force."
