"Cargill makes an intentional effort to provide equal opportunity to women and URM into all roles and leadership roles. People who do good work are rewarded for their work. They appreciate process changers and those who look at how to make something better. They are not a company stuck in the same mindset they want to change and continue to be better."

"In the corporate research and development (R&D) product development labs:
Not a good place for women in science and engineering
Not a good place for women of color on science and engineering
Lack of racial and ethnic diversity (low retention rates)
Also other people(non poc - like white women) are quitting, lots of turnover
They staff lean meaning that a few people get a boatload of work
Little direction
But lots of blame when deadlines come around or when deliverables are due
One advantage of staffing lean is that they don't have to fire anyone if the company has an off year "

"he's just going through a checklist- asking questions given to him by HR and senior management -
i've explained the work i'm doing and how i'm approacing it and when i express that i'm confused because I'm getting different instructions from different scientists - he says "hey, every scientist does things differntly" and i felt that this was dismissive. he treats me like an afterthought and has shared that he is "very busy" and "you'll be fine" when i was doing my first project in a new field of science (microbiology) i was managing a couple of different experiments that I had repeated mutltiple times and it wasnt until 3 months into the project that he introduced me to a gantt chart and showed me how to use it to manage each experiment in the workflow- that was helpful and it should have happened earlier. i didnt know about it, otherwise i would have asked. also, he never made it clear who my project sponsor was - my first task was to write the research proposal (research charter) and i focused on understanding this new area of science, the methods i would use, the expected outcomes and how valuable that is for the business. but later i found out that i should have known who my sponsor was and i should have been meeting with them regularly to share my progress. that was judged as my fault.
