"CMU is highly decentralized, so experiences can vary depending on what department you are with and who the current faculty member is that you are working under. However, one of the most difficult things was the lack of respect that administrative women staff receive from any and all faculty. Your fellow staff can be great and your benefits are awesome, but they work you so hard "

"True flextime is only permitted for exempt employees. You can only be an exempt employee if you manage other staff members. This means that most administrative employees cannot work from home - even if they do not have necessarily have positions that need to be in office to work with students or other personnel physically. This should be a decentralized policy not determinate on hourly or salary pay so that administrative staff can take work from home days if they are able to or need to."
