"Be your own advocate and find a mentor. Opportunities, like special projects, promotions, transferring to a different business unit, do not and should not drop in your lap. You should advocate to find and secure those opportunities. And having a mentor, male or female or both, who knows your value and your work ethic is enormously helpful to securing those opportunities."
