"They are trying. There are not a lot of women in leadership - but I don't think it's because they don't value women in leadership so much as their succession planning at the company is almost non-existent."

"If you are a younger woman there are lots of opportunities and programs to help you excel in you career. This company has excellent benefits and pay, and the culture promotes work life balance. If you are an older woman seeking a job, unless you are an engineer, you may not be considered for an interview."

"Over the past few years, there has been a shift in the culture. There is a greater focus on flexibility in scheduling and work environment as well as overall focus on the employee experience. I believe we still have room for improvement as far as promoting women into leadership roles and equal pay, but there has been progress. "

"There is a lot of work but many managers at the world headquarters level are supportive of work/life balance. I have never felt shamed for leaving to get a sick kid. "
"Great place to work! I love that UTC strongly encourages diversity and is moving towards 50% diversity in leadership roles! "
"The opportunities at UTC are endless; be certain to network!"
"I’m a single mom with aging parents. I’m managing to be the best mom that I can be, a good daughter and leading contributor at work. These are my desired must haves that are posted on my mirror, and which I recite to myself daily. It’s a wonderful sweet spot to be! I would not be able to realize these goals/desires without the help of having the culture and working environment of UTC. For that I am thankful for. "
"Best place I have found to work as a female A&P in the years since I have started working in this field."
"It is a great place for women to work at! "
"For every "Bad" guy there are two great ones. Don't let the bad ones sour your perception of the company culture as a whole. "
"There is a great community here at UTC for female empowerment and promoting the advancement of women. We have come a long way as an organization and are still progressing on our journey. Male allies are present in many areas of the organization as well! "
"Women are treated fairly, seen as leaders and supported by all."
"I would tell other women that there are many women in leadership/supervisor positions at UTC/Pratt & Whitney who are supportive and act as sponsors for their direct reports. Also, there is a strong community that stems from the ERGs/Leadership/Diversity and Inclusion for women and other people in affinity groups."
"Pratt & Whitney is a great employer and believes in the strength of diversity and inclusion. "
"It's a great time to be a woman (&/or a person of color) at United Technologies because we are aiming to be a leader in the workplace where diversity is valued! We're ALL in! "
"Overall good place to work. Lots of opportunities for growth. "
"It depends. From a company-wide perspective, working here is great for everybody because we are implementing conscious initiatives to ensure that we're developing our underrepresented groups. When you drill down to an individual group, it can be tough."
"Gender is not an issue or barrier to be successful in UTC."
"UTC offers a plethora of resources and opportunities for all their employees (regardless of gender) to grow both professionally and personally. "

"Pratt and Whitney is a great employer for women. Although I have heard some stories from women who have worked here in past years who have said that it could be too much of a "boys club". But things are changing and I think that Pratt and Whitney is doing a lot to try to rectify the situation. "

"UTC is working to change it's culture but it is definitely still evolving. While they have recently rolled out a few great company-wide policies that support women and families, some business units and departments are further along and your experience may depend on your management."

"I would tell other women about United Technologies as a great employer to start or continue their career."
"If you are smart and competent you will go far here. "
"I have enjoyed a long career working in Aerospace and United Technologies Tops my list as a great place to work, learn and grow. "
"This company has recognized the need to change it's culture and as a result is changing it's culture in order to bring new people into the organization. "
"Be professional, bid high to get what you want coming in - raises/promotions are not easy to come by"
"Excellent place to move ahead if you are respectful of everyone and motivated to go above and beyond."
"The employer is very male-focused so it's not uncommon to be the only woman in the conference room."
"While the overall atmosphere often feels corporate and stuffy, I have so many strong female leaders to look up to in this company. I also love how much UTC encourages ongoing learning: they are fully funding my current masters degree and might even fund another. This is not a "hip" office environment with fun benefits like free gyms or lunches, but the benefits are solid and flexibility is EXCELLENT. I have never had work-life balance issues here. My one note is that if you wish to see significant changes in your pay, you need to be a truly exceptional employee and need to document your successes in order to advocate for raises. Yearly merit increases themselves are very small, so if you want to make money moves, you truly need to be proactive."

"This is a great company to work for where the opportunities are endless."
"I have been with the company for more than 13 years , always had a work environment and support. "
"Great place to work. Women are treated with respect. I feel like we are treated equally. Recently our company added PAID parental leave for fathers and people who adopt. I was impressed since many companies only allow family leave (unpaid) and only provide some sort of paid leave to women who have a bay."
"There's lots of ways to be empowered. There's a zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment or gender discrimination, but I don't even need to deal with that because I haven't had a single instance where I came close to that. The climate is very welcoming and your ideas will not be belittled."
"I have never been discriminated against for being a woman. I have always been treated as an equal person on the level as human being. I have been treated according to my level of expertise in the field but never in a negative way. "
"There is still a large gap in terms of the number of women versus men, which I imagine this is the case for every other aerospace company. The department I am in is about 30% women, and I have never felt disrespected due to my gender,"
"You will not get support so you need to manage your own career. You are expected to overlook when other folks don't do their job, yet not complain. Don't go to HR unless you have no other path, they are not responsive to harassment concerns."
"Otis gives us the tools to empower ourselves and grow in our careers at every level "
"This is great employer to work for. And the management team I exceptional."
"As long as you understand the dynamics..... A great place to work!"
"UTC is a well run company with lots of opportunities for people who like challenges and love to learn. "
"Over 29 years I've had the opportunity to work on exciting and rewarding programs. My career goals have been exceeded."
"UTC has wonderful a wonderful maternity leave policy. Though the current gender disparity is high, the gap is closing. "
"UTC is improving their culture to be more minority-friendly, including women. So far the results have been impressive, and their commitment to diversity is solid."
"This place is FULL of old, white men, but they are willing to change. If you are a woman passionate about generator engineer, you can really kick ass here. If not, you can easily get stuck working in a job you don't love for decades. "
"Innovation is a key focus of our culture. Strong communication skills help ensure ideas are adopted. Data based discussions are key."
"I've enjoyed my time at UTAS. You really have to take your career into your own hands unless you are fortunate enough to find a mentor. "
"There is great maternal leave and there is a change in the culture to support women more, but this is still early in development. "
"Great opportunities, up to you how far you take them! Best in class Finance Women's Forum and other Women's Employee Resource Groups across the worldwide organization. "
"The culture is inclusive and as a mother, I feel that I am provided with as much flexibility that I need to do my job as an HR professional as well as my job as a mom. "
"Opportunities exist, policies have improved, inclusion is important and the future is bright for women at UTC. "
"Women are making a difference. Come work with us if you want to be part of the movement"
"Don't sell your soul to succeed here. If you don't work at least 50 hours a week you're not going to get promoted. Most work 65. "
"I started working at one of UTC’s business units as a temporary employee over 25 years ago. Once hired in a permanent role, I took advantage of the Employee Scholar Program to complete my undergraduate degree and MBA. I’ve relocated several times in order to take advantage of more challenging career opportunities and recently became an executive with the company. Come join us! Take advantage of our benefits and career opportunities to grow with us! I can assure you that joining UTC was the best career decision I ever made."
"There are many great opportunities and great people that work at P&W. We are making strides in the right directions - equal treatment of all employees and working to promote more females into managerial and executive positions. "
"UTC is trying to change their culture so that flexibility is more accepted and more common-place."
"There are many development programs aimed at women and Senior Leaders are committed to supporting women"
"Commitment from the top on diversity and inclusion HR policies support flexibility and inclusion "
"Maternity leave is great here - 12 fully paid weeks! All new parents get at least 4 weeks off fully paid, i.e. Dads and Moms who didn't give birth. The commitment to "Paradigm for Parity" (50% female executives by 2030) makes this a great place for talented, hard-working women looking to climb the ladder. "
"There are many people supportive of the needs of women and men that need flexibility for family. Not every job can have as much flexibility and that's ok - but there are plenty of jobs that do allow for flexibility. When I had my first child, I took 6 months off, I came back part time . I was part time and flexing - working partially at home and in the office - this was awesome 20 years ago! I stayed part time for 12 years and was able to move around to different positions to add to my skill set. I was even promoted to management when I was part time. "
"Still some work to do in terms of promoting diversity for POC and women in management positions. Have been fortunate to have supervisors that were very understanding of my flexible needs, without formal requirement of UTfleX."
"I have loved working here. I have been here since I was in intern in College. I cannot imagine going anywhere else and getting the level of support and recognition that I receive here. This is a great place to work!"
"UTC is a company that focuses on diversity and inclusion. It has many groups to help support women."
"Be confident in your knowledge and it will take you far. "
"Company is performance oriented, so be sure your work is visible and credited."
"UTC offers women focused Employee Resource Groups like the Women in Aviation are great ways to network within the company and the community. "
"It is a meritocracy. Leadership is committed to gender parity."
"There are a lot of great things about working at UTC. One of my favorite things in the Women's Employee Resource Group. My site has an active and great group of members. I have had many male ally managers support me in my day to day work and promotions."
"I have been given many opportunities along with the necessary support to grow throughout my career, and have never felt overlooked or at a disadvantage because I'm a woman. It is a great company to work for."
"As a young women starting her career and trying to find the balance to excel as a leader, UTC has not provided me with the adequate support to grow."
"Not only they treat me as part of the group regardless my sex, they also don't mind that I'm way younger than most and new to the industry. I feel heard and appreciated."
"Overall, women are treated fairly at UTAS. However, in Engineering, there is still a large discrepancy in the number of male and female engineers. There could also be improvement in the number of women in technical and management positions."
"I think UTC has made strides in gender equality, women in leadership, and fair treatment of all employees. As a female in tech, I have never felt like I have been passed over on opportunities due to my gender. I truly believe this company focuses on who is the right person for the job, and ensuring all employees are working on their development. While many people may point and say "look there are not that many female executives in the technical disciplines" but the truth is - it is not disproportionate to the percentage of women with the experience to lead in such high roles. I believe in UTC's paradigm for parity campaign and feel empowered to keep growing my career."
"It's a great place to meet other talented and hard working women."
"Recent improvements to the maternity/parental leave policies have been nice. Flexible part-time or full-time schedules can be worked out, they are open to some working from home -- I have really felt in control of my work days/hours, especially since having kids, and I've appreciated that as long as my work is getting done (and done well), no one has objected to changing my schedule up a bit here and there."
"This company recognizes hard work. So work hard, let your voice be heard, literally take a seat at the table and ensure to identify a mentor. "
"Don't be fooled by the heavy manufacturing and technology and assuming it's a mans world; it's absolutely a place where women can thrive! "
"Seek out the opportunities! UTC has women's forums, leadership clubs, and executive training programs! Seek them out and push until you are where you want to be."
"you are able to have work life balance. This company is flexible with school schedules and any other reason you have for flexing your hours. Many of the people in our group takes advantage of the Uflex benifit"
"It is a wonderful place and a very safe place to work"
"The manufacturing / engineering industry is predominately male dominated industry, as is our company. This is also a very conservative culture but striving very hard for inclusion of all types of diversity. It is not easy to find a mentor and, as women, we tend to be paving new paths every day here. If you are persistent and willing to work hard to break through "norms", there is great opportunity at UTAS. I started my career as a secretary and was able to obtain two degrees (paid for by UTAS), travel the world, work part time and nights (while my children were young) and now hold a leadership position. Not easy - but very possible!!"
"There is significant opportunity for career growth, and movement within the corporation. However, the gender gap still exists primarily within the engineering discipline. Expect to have to fight for the same treatment as men in similar roles. Also be prepared for the stereotypical judgment to still exist where strong and aggressive women are consider "emotional". Industry wise, UTAS/UTC does what they can but a true culture change is required to see beyond the gender."
"UTC has better parental benefits than most other companies that I've looked seen, but the medical coverage is expensive. Women are treated with respect and the few incidents of disrespect that I have witnessed/experienced have been taken very seriously."
"The company truly values its employees and is committed to diversity and inclusion"
"This has been a great place to work as a new hire. Not as many women in my group but everyone is kind and helpful."
"I would tell another woman that UTC is very accommodating to working mothers. Also, they are very devoted to having a gender parity in all leadership levels by 2030. "
"If you thought you knew the culture of UTAS before, be sure to look again. The company is making big strides toward work/life balance and building an inclusive, empowered workforce. Policies are changing and manager training is widespread."
"I would tell her that the odds are stacked in her favor because she's a woman. I feel that our company promotes women and minorities ahead of white males."
"Everyone has a chance to have their voice heard. Policies and flex hours are amazing for work/life balance."
" Great work environment with flexible work schedule allowed and generous benefits."
"Great place to work. Take your career into your own hands or get a mentor to help you with career development. "
"United Technologies gives me the ability to constantly challenge myself and develop skills I need now and in the future. Their products move the world and the focus on ethics, people and culture make me proud to work here. UTC ERG groups are growing and the networks support each other to make a difference."
"Don't be afraid to speak up. Be willing to make decisions to keep projects moving forward."
"I believe that the intent is to be diverse and have opportunities for women, but improvements are needed."
"You have the opportunity to pursue all career aspirations that interest you. Seek mentors and sponsors to help you along your journey and success will follow!"
"There are many good opportunities but it is up to the individual to make their own career. I still see some pockets of subtle discrimination and an old boys club mentality. "
"Be sure you have what you want going in to the position."
"The culture needs to change- it's a lot of old white men in my group, with some very conservative views. It's not inclusive. A push to actually include more people of different gender and of different race would be highly beneficial. "
"This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door in the aerospace industry. There are many business units under the UTC umbrella and you have the ability to explore all through rotational programs, internships, or full time positions. "
"I like my work and I think there are a lot of kind people at my job. I especially think that the other women are kind and supportive. I struggle with some of the men I work with, some have a difficult time working with women because their egos get in the way."
"UTC promotes women in a variety of ways, including its women-led Employee Resource Groups. The Women ERGs facilitate events to develop women's professional skills, cultivate learning, and become active in the local communities via outreach programs. We also provide excellent benefits for maternity and parental leave."
"There are plenty of opportunities for advancement for women to move into higher level positions."
"Lots of opportunities at UTC if you are motivated and ambitious. "
"Continue to engage and insert ourselves in projects or meetings- be noticed! "
"UTC offers great work life balance. UTC is a company that values culture and diversity. "
"nice company to work at with decent pay, pretty flexible on working schedule. Woman did not get enough promotions here at this company. "
"It depends on the department and the business unit within UTC. Typically in Operations, it is a heavily male-dominated area. Most of the time it feel's like a "boys' club". Most people are respectful, but you do have to have a tougher skin when you're the only female out of 30 men on your team. Choose your manager wisely. Not all managers at UTC support gender diversity, or diversity in general."
"I have worked here for almost 30 years, experienced many ups and downs. Aerospace has been a male dominated field but more and more women are joining us and finding many opportunities awaiting them. United Technologies embraces and encourages diversity. Diversity makes us better, stronger, brighter! "
"they are in right track to promote women and their policies now reflect that"
"I have not used the maternity leave, but I've been told you get 6 weeks, and can use an additional week of 'personal time'. Even after the maternity leave period, the UTCflex program makes it easy to work from home a couple days a week to be with your newborn if you want/need."
"Competitive pay, good benefits, flexible work hours, very diverse workforce, a lot of diversity in management positions, equality initiatives and corporate goals, and the Re-Empower program that helps professionals who have had to take a leave from their careers to re-enter the workforce"
"Say "sorry" only when appropriate, not often. It is important to claim responsibility, but a more effective approach would be to follow it up with course of action to mitigate the situation. I see women default to say "sorry" before their male counterparts, and many times when no one is even at fault. I work in a male dominated environment and luckily most have been respectful. Nobody likes to be at fault and it doesn't help to preemptively accept blame. Providing solutions and executing actions is one of the many ways to progress."
"Great place and environment to work. Women are respected and valued. "
"Executive Management is focused on diversity and inclusion and always looking at ways to improve for employees."
"Very supportive for growth for everyone, a great place to work. "
"If your mobile the opportunities are endless. Be vocal about what you want to your leadership and to HR, in all cases everyone has been willing to help."
"A woman can maintain good work life balance working in this organization."
"The company is amazing and a great place to work. It is very male dominated, but I think that stems from the area in general that we work in. Women are slowly growing in the company and the culture is shifting."
"Great corporate culture. Very collaborative and caring workforce. We're very proud of what we make here which is components that help our US and Allied Warfighters in defensive measures."
"There's improvement in work life balance, but it'll take time for complete cultural shift."
"This supplier has a very diverse culture, and has facility around the world. There are many female managers - my Supply Chain Sr. Director is female and is very good. We have many women in management and leader roles."
"It's really a great place to work, especially for women employees. I would suggest every woman out there, not to miss any opportunity to work with this organization."

"The benefits of working within UTC are never-ending. They are very flexible and offer many opportunities for continued training and education. It is easy to find women willing to mentor other women."
"If you want a "job" with work life balance you can find it here. If you actually want a "career" you may have a hard time moving ahead. This is still a very old-fashioned company."

"I would tell other women that UTC is committed to gender diversity and is continuously improving in this area. This seems to be an area that leadership is extremely passionate about and I believe that it will only improve in the coming years. "
"I started with UTC eleven years ago and it was the best decision I have made career wise. UTC has a culture unlike any other company I have worked for. The pride they have in their employees is surreal. One of the key elements is the work life balance that they offer. I currently have a work schedule that allows me to work remote once a week. "

"UTC is a great employer for all employees regardless of race or gender. Flexibility depends on the job but also on whether you to choose to exercise the benefits that are available to you. UTC is encouraging its employees to participate in a flexible work arrangement that suits their needs, so long as they're in a job that allows it (i.e., not for shop floor workers...can't take your work home!)"
