RESPONSIBILITIES
About the Role:
The Senior Technical Principal Architect - Loan Servicing is a strategic technology leader responsible for defining and driving the architecture of a next-generation consumer loan servicing platform. This role combines deep technical expertise with business acumen to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. The architect will lead the platform modernization efforts, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and third-party services, while promoting best practices in cloud architecture, security, and performance optimization.
As a senior architect and senior technical leader supporting the global systems business for the vehicle retail loan business, you will be a key influencer in the achievement of strategic alignment and provide a positive impact on business value. The Senior Principal will work with leaders in the business unit to identify initiatives with high impact which drive the business strategy forward. The Senior Principal is an established and recognized figure both internally and externally. This person will represent GM Financial in the broader community and serve as a de facto ambassador for the organization.
In this role, you will:
Architecture Leadership:
Define high level capability model of a loan servicing platform, including criteria for architecture assessment of a servicing product
Help with assessment and selection of servicing platform
Define and maintain the target state architecture for the consumer loan servicing platform, including UI, business services, and core servicing components.
Lead design and implementation of cloud-native architecture leveraging modern frameworks and microservices.
Platform Development:
Drive development of a core servicing platform that serves as the system of record for accounts, contracts, and financials.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and security standards.
Integration Strategy:
Develop integration patterns for third-party systems (payment gateways, CRM, analytics) using APIs and adapter frameworks.
Promote reusable services and enforce API governance standards.
Innovation & Transformation:
Support digital transformation initiatives by introducing automation, self-service capabilities, and advanced analytics.
Champion process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with business leaders to align technical strategies with organizational goals.
Act as a technology ambassador, representing the organization in external forums and maintaining strong industry networks.
Other Responsibilities:
Work with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and operations, to define and execute the technical roadmap for our core platforms.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and developers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the consumer loan AI and cloud architecture space, evaluating their potential impact on our platforms
Ensure that all solutions align with the company's strategic goals and meet the needs of our customers.
Lead projects and initiatives through technical expertise
Be a trusted and valued partner of business senior leaders by providing subject matter expertise, guidance and support for related business unit
Contribute to the business unit's vision, goals and strategies, translating vision into solutions while balancing risk, investment needs and fit for purpose
Promote open communication that welcomes information sharing, seeks input from others and values diverse viewpoints
Nurture a strong internal network by working across the business unit to foster a culture of trust, inclusion, engagement and integrity
Drive technical thought leadership, as an advocate for new methodologies that enable higher levels of business agility and operational excellence
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with leading cross-functional and/or global initiatives from start to finish
Knowledge and experience with core loan servicing platform
Advanced knowledge of business acumen and a deep understanding of business implications of decisions
In-depth understanding of company values, mission, vision and strategic direction
Comprehensive knowledge of GM Financial's business operations
Recognized as an expert across the business unit
10-15 years in enterprise architecture and software engineering, with at least 3-5 years in consumer lending or financial services.
Strong knowledge of loan servicing systems, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and API-driven integration.
Strong proven background in solution architecture and system design of banking, and commercial lending platforms. Experience with retail and consumer services preferred.
Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud architecture solutions, preferably with AWS and Azure
Extensive experience integrating with third-party systems, including hands-on experience with APIs, web services, and middleware.
Strong expertise in building and implementing adapter patterns to facilitate system integration.
Strong knowledge of highly transactional banking systems, customer analytics, including security and compliance requirements.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferably in Agile and Product Management teams.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience:
12+ years in related function(s) required
5-7 years of experience leading through mentorship in related field required
5-7 years of experience driving thought leadership and innovation across products required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree plus 2 additional years of relevant experience required
Relevant certifications and/or licenses required
