Role Overview
The Technician, Electrical Maintenance provides electrical and mechanical support for the production department. This position is responsible for the setup, install, assemble, repair of any and all equipment used to produce products. This position conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. This position applies knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation, as well as provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of production department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
Ensure effective operation of electrical and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on heat sealing machines, robotic equipment, case sealing automation equipment, conveyors, pneumatic tools, and production machines
Follow Schematics, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturing instructions, engineering specifications to troubleshoot and improve equipment uptime
Follow preventive maintenance schedule in performing work
Requires flexible work schedule as most of the work is performed when equipment is not in use
Replace, clean, and adjust machinery to performance specification to maintain good working order
Verify machinery and equipment is functioning correctly before releasing for production use
Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Update preventative maintenance schedule should unforeseen equipment failures occur outside of normal preventive maintenance
Equipment Repair
Respond to requested repair of equipment and operating systems when failures occurs, acting with immediate and swift response
Diagnose equipment failure whether electrical or mechanical by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments
Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment using hand and power tool
Replaces necessary components and tests equipment for proper operation before handing off to production.
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface Design/Repair
Program new equipment and maintain programmable logic controller systems used in manufacturing applications
Troubleshoot and repair of electronic production robotic equipment
Work as team member on production efficiency projects to lower manufacturing cost
Assist with assembly of electrical components on new equipment and automation projects
Repair of electrical problems with equipment, which includes packaging equipment, motors, conveyors, ovens, PLC's case erecters, palletizers, robotics, etc
Be proactive and efficient to ensure operations run smoothly
Install & Diagnose Pneumatic Systems
Installation and repair of cylinders, valves, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices
Diagnose, repair, replace, control valves, sensors, motors, actuators. AC/DC troubleshooting and related systems
Experience with chain drives, belt drives, lubrication systems, and applications
Maintain Spare Parts Inventory
Maintain replacement parts and supplies inventory
Review operational manuals and internal files to recommend spare parts components and quantities
Anticipate needed general electrical components for repairs and Preventive Maintenance
Research original manufacture, internet, catalogs for supplies and parts
Place order requests for spare parts
Confirm receipt and verify correct parts received
Place parts in inventory by record sheet
Experience & Qualifications
Education
Associate's Degree (or equivalent experience) Technical training, maintenance manufacturing or Military technical training
High School Diploma (or G.E.D.)
Experience
Minimum 4 years
Experience working in machine electrical maintenance in manufacturing (including experience with electrical schematics, vision systems and robots)
Minimum 2 years
Experience in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and/or troubleshooting experience, electrical equipment repair, controls design, layout, and wiring with strong solving skills.
Licenses and Certifications

Base Salary
The targeted base salary range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00 hourly.
Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.
Additional Compensation
Not a Bonus Eligible Role: This role is not eligible to participate in Brother's bonus incentive plan. The base pay accounts for the entirety of the role's annual cash compensation.

About Where We Work
Brother's corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard.
