About Our Team

We are hiring a System Engineer with PCIe & debug capabilities to work in Lenovo's Cloud Service Provide Group (CSP). This is a fast-paced customer-centric organization that will adapt to changing market demands to serve customer needs. We're the only company with true end-to-end capabilities for even the most unique datacenter computing solution. Our CSP solutions can be designed, manufactured, tested, serviced, and deployed worldwide using only Lenovo teams and without any other JDM support required at any stage of the product lifecycle.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled PCIe Engineer for Servers to join our CSP team. In this role, you will be responsible for PCIe subsystem validation, system integration, and ensuring server infrastructure performance meets industry standards. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, including system hardware, firmware, and software engineers, as well as third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Validate and test PCIe subsystems in server environments, including Gen4/Gen5 PCIe interfaces.

• Collaborate on system integration with server CPUs, GPUs, storage, and networking components, ensuring optimal PCIe performance.

• Develop and execute test plans, strategies, and cases for PCIe device and system-level validation.

• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues related to PCIe devices in various OS environments (Linux, Windows, VMware).

• Participate in debugging sessions with firmware and software teams to optimize PCIe lane configuration and bandwidth.

• Document test results and collaborate with internal teams to ensure product readiness and delivery.

• Stay current with PCIe standards, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.

• Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to ensure product quality.

• Document best practices and lessons learned to improve product quality and test efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 6+ years of hardware engineering experience, with 2+ years focused on PCIe subsystems in server environments.

• Expertise in PCIe protocol, lane management, and link training.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering is a plus.

• Hyperscale/Cloud experience

• Can use oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, host bus adapters, meters, and other test equipment to debug HW/SW/FW issues

• Hands-on experience with PCIe cards (NICs, storage controllers, accelerators), system-level performance tuning, and bandwidth optimization.

• Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting tools and methodologies for complex server architectures.

• Proficient in debugging hardware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or PCIe bus analyzers.

• Ability to read and understand server schematics and design documents.

• Solid understanding of server platforms, BIOS/UEFI, BMC, and virtualization technologies.

• Experience working with both Windows and Linux operating systems, with command-line proficiency.

• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.

• Preferred: Experience writing scripts (Python, Shell) to automate testing or hardware validation.

• Knowledge of design elements of OCP (Open Compute Project) based HW is a plus

• Proficiency with Linux server operating systems

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

• Ability to work effectively cross-culturally across teams in the USA, Asia and Mexico
