What You'll Do

  • Direct Departmental Oversight: Plan, manage, and direct the activities of the distribution consulting team.

  • Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers through performance management and employee development initiatives.

  • Operational Administration: Resource planning and the administration of department policies and procedures.

  • Consulting Excellence: Drive high-quality outcomes for customers while leading major engineering and training initiatives.

  • Portfolio Growth: Lead business development efforts for the distribution consulting sector, identifying market opportunities and shaping solution offerings.

  • Professional Networking: Represent MEPPI within the electric utility industry and maintain strong professional networks.

  • Industry Leadership: Actively participate in national and regional forums—such as CIGRE and IEEE—to contribute to industry thought leadership.

  • Primary Distribution SME: Serve as the organization's lead expert for distribution planning and related consulting services.

  • Technical Guidance: Provide leadership both internally to staff and externally to utility clients.

  • Consulting Engagement: Leverage deep experience in performing distribution planning studies and managing high-level consulting engagements.

What You Bring

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering, or equivalent technical discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems studies consulting field, electric utility system planning, or T&D manufacturer's application engineering, or equivalent education and experience in areas key to the position.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of electric grid consulting and power systems engineering.

  • Advanced knowledge of power systems, computer methods, and analytical techniques.

  • Advanced technical writing skills.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and power systems analysis software tools.
