I can never seem to be truly satisfied with a job in the past few years. My first long term job lasted for 19 years. I started when I was in my 20’s. The next company was 5 years, and since then I haven’t stayed anywhere more than 2 years. I’m getting itchy at my current job after only 1 year. It seems I am never satisfied, and the biggest reason is work-life balance. I didn’t care when I was younger, and now I do. I apply for positions that say they have this, but than it goes away. The thing is, I’m in my 50’s now, and I know it could be dangerous to job hop. Should I keep seeking the “one”, or just stick with my current job and hope it gets better?

Does this self-talk sound familiar? ▸I don't know how much longer I can take this stress. ▸Am I the only one who feels like this? ▸Doesn't anyone see how hard I'm working? ▸It doesn't matter what I do; nothing is going to change. ▸I physically can't take another week of working like this. If you have, you may already or will soon begin to doubt your own perception, abilities, and sense of

Subcontractor here...My typical week, I bill out 25-30 ours to our clients. I want to carve one day a week or two 1/2 days as time off to do other activities for which I am involved - days can vary. Do you think I should have a discussion with the owner and let her know my plan. OR just update her weekly, i.e,, Monday I will take the day off, etc. (this is what I have been doing).. but I have not been consistent with taking time off... I need to have the work/life balance-getting stressed. Thank you for your input.

HEY EVERYBODY!

IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE I'VE INTRODUCED MYSELF. I'm Melissa, a former marketing maven, video production company-owner and #jobshare media sales rep! I founded the first U.S. job share company Work Muse (workmuse.com) to empower working moms (and everybody!) to find the true work-life balance I'd experienced working in the 24/7 radio industry for nearly a decade starting when my daughter (Iris, the

I am a 55-year-old sales professional who is unemployed and looking for a next step. For 25 years I pushed hard in the NYC market and was successful. Over the course of my career, I have developed a toolbox of different skills outside of direct selling (hiring/developing/managing a team, budgeting, negotiation, project management, ect.). I made a very good living. With 10 years to go until I retire, I am looking to kick it down a notch and find an opportunity that is local (commuting to NYC is not fun), and not as aggressively fast paced as my past roles. I am willing to take a substantial pay cut to do something that I enjoy and have a better work/life balance. How do I communicate this to a potential employer without sounding like a slacker? Any advice would be appreciated.
