I interviewed (with the hiring manager) for a position back on 9/27 and took the typical assessment tests. She said the next step would be to interview with the branch manager (if I were to move to the next step). I sent my thank you note. After a week, I sent a follow-up and she replied back that they hoped to finish initial interviews within a week and would be in touch soon. It's now been two weeks since that time and I was going to follow up again but not sure if I should give it more time or not. Is it appropriate to ask what their hiring timeline is?

Completely appropriate. I would continue looking for your next role, sometimes time frames get interrupted with other stakeholders that are out of their control.

Oh yes, good point. Thank you.

So the timing is you interviewed 9/27, sent a thank you note, she replied back say, 10/4, saying they are finishing up interviews by 10/11? So now it's been a week since they should have finished up based on what you know, is that right? I would give it one more week, 10/24, not Friday, but a Thursday and hopefully they will get back to you by next Friday. I hope you hear early next week with an offer! :-) But if not, follow up before the weekend of next week (10/24) and hopefully you will get an answer. That's pretty awesome they replied to you! Keep us posted and hope you get the job!

Right ? Thanks for this, I will plan to follow up on Thursday if I haven't heard back.

Absolutely not you're following up and you need to know what direction to proceed. You want to know if to continue with the interviewing process or interview elsewhere.
