Updating your linkedin summary/about section

I recently updated my own linkedin about/summary section so I thought I would share some ideas incase anyone else was looking to update theirs!

  • Include your why - starting a summary with what you can and why or including the impact you hope to have is a great way to draw attention
  • Showcase accomplishments - the summary is a great place to include those big wins!
  • Share a story - this is a unique section of LinkedIn and telling a story is a great way to showcase your personality more!

A few other ideas:

  • include a list of skills or core competencies
  • add a few hobbies, passion projects or fun facts about you
  • incorporate things you're "known for" among coworkers, friends or your community

If anyone has other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

    Thank you for the comments. Quite frankly, LinkedIn is overpopulated that it doesn't even matter anymore. You are a needle in the haystack anyway. I stop relying on LinkedIn.

    Thank you, Cassie! I definitely don't do all of this and will get to it! I find LinkedIn most helpful for networking--both making new connections and easily keeping up to date with existing ones.
