Your vision, your path, no one else's.

I was recently contacted by someone who sought advice regarding changing their technology/business focus while remaining in the legal field. That conversation forced me to reflect on my path, and how we invent and reinvent ourselves on our paths to success. Once, I took a job that cut my pay significantly because I needed to re-skill and loved the company. Once, I left a job that was not as represented and loaded with toxic people, despite having nowhere else to go and every recruiter I knew telling me to stay. This is not the path for success I had planned, but I believe not only do we decide what our success looks like, we are allowed to let that vision change. Sometimes the vision changes while on a path, and sometimes because of it. Sometimes we learn more of where the path is taking us, and decide we don’t want to go there, sometimes other forces crash into our path. But whatever happens, the vision and all its variations, belongs to us.

Thank you....as do I ...it just sucks because I’d put my heart and soul into that place...I feel like I’m in mourning... I’m sure the right position will be available when the time is right....

It's it amazing when you need to hear something, grab a cup of coffee and *POOF* - You just made me rethink my place in a "toxic" environment which I've been struggling with for a year. Thank you......

Cynthia, in that place, I didn't believe it was gas lighting/harassment/toxic until a friend implored me to write it all down daily so I could see the patterns. And then it still took time to accept. But once I did, I put my finances in order and resigned 3 days later. I hope you find health, happiness, and success (whatever that is to you!)

Hi, I was moved by your comments. I agree with you - we are active participants in our professional + life destiny. Keep in mind, transformation is a dynamic process. I believe the process is more important than the destination. We always have the opportunity to rework the process. As we transform, yet again, we can accept the moment + use it to re-evaluate our professional + life vision. During this career season, I've found myself tweaking priority goals. I've been writing out all of them- from short-term to life-long (and everyone in between). I believe a new brilliance can be pressed out of us if we allow time to quiet ourselves + journal this out. I have to be honest with you, the pressing has been uncomfortable at times, but I believe we're experiencing a revision (re-vision) during this historic time. Lately, most of my coaching conversations have included, "Maybe it's time for you to transform (again)." I think you just confirmed it! :-) Enjoy your weekend, + thank you for keeping us authentically mindful. All the best!
