I need advice on a career change...

I am considering completely changing my career path to bookkeeping/ accounting. I've worked with a career counselor, then did deep dives into many careers that lined up with my career testing assessments. Before starting the re-education process I'd love to chat with someone in the field. I'm having a hard time connecting with someone in the field. Any ideas on how to approach ?

    Talk to a recruiter.

I was a franchisee accountant fir years and got laid off. Despite having experience, I didn't have the piece of paper (degree in interior design).

I ended up returning to earn my associates in accounting- and gave it my all while working FT and a single mom of a 3rd, 6th grader- 3.75gpa

    It worked.

My advice is to talk to a recruiter and ask for honesty of what's missing. They know- they talk to employers all the time

look up Sarah A. Page on Linkedin. Her headline is:

I believe she even does short videos on facebook

As someone who is in their mid-20s and trying to get my foot in the door, connections really make it work. Whatever place you go for re0education, connect with as many people as you can.

That being said, with the rise of AI, some financial jobs are becoming... well, unnecessary for human workers. Not saying all of them are because there are still plently of opportunities, but as someone with a number of friends also in this field, they are finding it harder and harder to get a job (though the economy is also to blame).

I would reach out to them via LinkedIn and share your situation and that you would love to connect with them to learn more about their career path

Using your existing network can be a great starting point to ask if anyone you interact with on a more daily basis knows others in the bookkeeping / accounting space that they can introduce you to!
