I'm scheduled to start a new job in education (non-teaching role) next week.

However, the manager and HR have still not confirmed the salary, indicating that it's "under review by the Board." Would you start a job without knowing the salary? HR also said they'd have to get approval from the Business office to give me a written offer letter. Seems shady. Wonder if it's just me?

Taking a step back in my career due to layoffs - Anyone else experiencing this decision and how if you are, how are you navigating this ?
The market as we know is tough. Very competitive. I am running out of funds and I need a job. I have a little girl and a whole house to take care of, so I need to keep the show going. I am currently SaaS Manager. Love it, because it pays well and I get to work from home. Now, I am laid off and can’t get a job to save my life. I get interviews, make it to the last rounds, and no offer. It’s rough! 6 months down and well…. Yea …umm nothing. I finally decided to step back and get an executive role (no shade to EA’s, it’s a respectable profession). I got a verbal offer and pretty much getting this role. I expect an official offer coming my way soon, I am grateful but I am taken a salary cut, position step back and going onsite.
I will be continuing my search, in the meantime but I am worried about the gap and deciding wether or not to add this job on my resume to fill that gap, I am just lost and wonder if anyone had any advise ??

Please share your success networking stories - if you found a job through networking how did you do it?
How many people did you call? Did you find contacts on LinkedIn and approach?
I am having hard time with it. I was given notice and emailed/ texted people just to connect and talked. Very few even responded. I know it is a numbers game, but it is so lonely and discouraging - like begging for a job...
But they say it is still more effective than applying on the web.

I saw how my colleagues were freaking out and then I heard about this concept. So I did what I thought was quietly quitting - I just did the minimum required of me. Then we got our monthly numbers and I was ahead of plan!
Give it a shot!

Once someone signs an offer letter, is it generally okay to give notice to your present employer?
(Basically, it's a contract, yes?)

Is it discrimination to let the oldest employee work all nights and weekends when a younger inexperienced person is taken into a position?
We did have fair scheduling until this person came into the group, she says she can not get a baby sitter. So another employee and myself have all the nights, except one. He gets a couple of days during the week, I sometimes get one on the weekend?
