Adding workout time into work schedule?

Adding workout time into work schedule?

I am about to start a new job. It is remote and flexible. In my past role, I struggled to find time to have a scheduled workout time during my day but now that I have been off work I have workout momentum going and don't want to lose it.

So remote workers, how do you schedule this into your work day effectively? I generally work out using virtual reality games or by getting outside (walking, hiking etc) and tend to do it midday.

Any suggestions?

Block off a reasonable amount of time on your work calendar so your schedule shows you as unavailable. That will help ensure meetings don’t crowd out your workout. Of course, during the work day, work is the priority so you may have to keep some flexibility in the exact time for your workout so you’re accessible. If you’re invited to a meeting that falls at the same time, mark it tentative and propose a new time. You don’t have to say why.

In the morning, PRE-working hours, if you're starting off a new job, you need to be available when they need you to be, IMO.

Ever since having my daughter (she's 13 next month), my workouts have been first thing in the morning.
    - my first alarm is 4/4:30a (I'm a snooze queen). For many years, I worked in an office that had a full gym/showers and nearby trails. Let there in the midst of COVID but prior to leaving there, I bought a Peloton (because, honestly, the full gym was the main thing keeping me there). I don't work full remote, I do work from home on occasion, but regardless - my routine has always been the same - get up, get on the bike, follow-up with strength and then take the dog for a stroll (even typing it...I can't say the W word for fear she will hunt me down for her exercise). On days I do work for home, I may do another ride or stroll at lunch time.

Early morning workouts became a habit long ago...to the point where my day is just not right unless I start it with a workout.

I am remote and have varying workout schedules. For example, I do walk with neighbors in the AM before work hours. I also use the 12noon-1pm block to attend some classes at my nearby gym 1-2x/week. Finally I do have regularly scheduled gym classes after work. Do something that you truly like and you'll find a way to fit it in; just don't abuse your remote status.
