Hello, I need some help.

Hello, I need some help. I feel like my resume is not working for me. I find these great jobs, that I am a great fit for but then I am rejected. :) I am also older but I really hope that is not the issue. LOL I have worked for my company for 12 years now, but we were bought out by huge company and I just do not feel secure anymore. Plus I feel like I need a change. I would appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you

    Hi,

My mentor told me to put achievements on my resume.

Rather than saying what you do write what you have achieved i.e if you created cost savings and try and quantify your achievements if possible.

I also used chatgpt put my CV in with the job description and asked for chatgpt to update my CV where necessary.

I am older and recently bought a pair of funky spectacles. I wear a nice blue preppy shirt and jacket for the interviews. It shows I am still keeping up with trends while being professional.

Experiment a bit with where you are interviewing, what you are wearing, your hairstyle and how you are putting yourself forward. Good luck. It is very competitive out there.

Don't know about the resume part of your question. But Is there any way that you could voice your concerns to your direct manager? I think that's the very first thing you should do. Let them know that you'd like to have a conversation about the acquisition, how is the organizational chart going to look, how will it impact the roles (yours) and what's on the horizon, that is, if they're knowledgeable about it.

85% of roles are gotten through networking and talking with humans. Unfortunately computers are reading your resume these days. When you apply, go on Linkedin and see if you know anybody who knows anybody at the company. And even if you don't find and email a stranger. Don't apply and pray. Get bolder about getting your resume to the right place.
