Does anyone know if Equifax (theworknumber.com) give my entire work history to new employer upon employment verification with SSN?

   What report are you pulling? Equifax is a credit report company. Unless you're working in finance or sometimes if you're handling cash, a credit report typically is not being run.

   I've been a recruiter for over twenty years and the only time a credit report has been run for a candidate was for Finance positions - higher level positions where the role has the potential to effect the business, not for something like A/R or A/P. I don't typically work on positions where people handle cash, but they can be utilized in that instance also.

   If they search by your social, they can go pretty far back, but only pull those that report to The Work Number.

   They may just ask for a certain amount of years to go back in. You never know, it's out of your control.

   I work in-house for a global company and we use a third party background check company.
   We don't run a credit check.

   You only included work history that felt was relevant to the opportunity you’re applying to. A resume doesn’t have to be a medical history, rather can/should support the story of where you are now, why you’re the right fit and where you are headed.

    I've seen many applications (what you fill out beyond the resume) that tell you to include everything and that omission/misrepresentation could result in being fired if they find out later.
    The resume itself is just a marketing piece.

    If you filled out a background check form they will only check the employers you list there. Ask for a copy of the report for your records for future reference. Also having this will assure that you know what is in there for you own information.

    I clear the background checks.
    The last three companies I've worked for, all did background checks, none ran credit reports. We do not/did not use this Equifax subsidiary.

    Yes, we use a third party background check company.

    No, we do not run credit checks except on the most senior level management and for those in Canada that are getting an AMEX card.

    I don't need to check the contract because I see the reports so I can clear them and because I double checked with our On-Boarding group incase there was some double secret part of the background check that I didn't get. There isn't.

    I never said that I had never heard of The Work Number. The OP asked about Equifax. The Work Number provides data to our background check company and shows up on our reports.

    As I said in my original comment, typically credit reports are run for Finance positions. Personally, I don't see what a credit rating has to do with if someone has the skills to be a good Nuclear Pharmacist or Senior Quality Engineering Manager for Catheters.

    I'm not being obstinate. I believe I was the first person to answer the question and if I remember correctly, (theworknumber.com) that is now in the question was not in the question originally. The question was about Equifax. The question was later clarified that the OP was asking about The Work Number.
