My boss wants to consider me for the role of a coordinator.

My boss wants to consider me for the role of a coordinator. When I asked her pay range she said that the recruiter only gave her the midpoint nothing more. Is she withholding information? Why would a boss do that?

    Wait and see what the offer is before making a decision. Midpoint is market and may be adequate

    Yes it’s a position title change and more responsibilities. But I felt she only gave me the midpoint to low ball me. When I know am a hard worker, I know the work, and can do it. I have asked the recruiter about the actual range but she hasn’t responded to me. I believe the range is higher but they don’t want me to ask for the max range because I would max out and won’t get a yearly raise which is usually 30 - 40 cents.

    Feels a little odd to me, but sometimes recruiters don't have the knowledge and/or authority to share more. I am not sure if your boss is withholding information. Is it possible to speak to the recruiter directly?

    The position was filled but with an external candidate and I was being led on for 1 whole month.

    They decided to hire an external candidate and the recruiter never reached out to me when I had asked her about pay range and more about the internal hiring process.
