Hi guys, I decided to resign from my job to attend graduate school. The employee handbook says I have to write a resignation letter. Any advice on how to write one?

Very simple. Draft a written memo stating you will resign effective [date]. You can specify the reason if you feel inclined, but that is unnecessary. Be sure to thank them for the opportunity and experience to end on a positive note. Most companies prefer you give two weeks' notice, but unless you have already started classes, you cprovide them withhem a couple more weeks if you feel they need transition time. Give yourself a break, and congratulations on the career move. I just finished my doctorate, and I love encountering others who love learning as much as I do.

Use AI ( Chat GPT, etc) just make sure you change it up a bit to tailor it to your needs.

Easy peasy! Just write you are resigning effective x date. No need to share the reason in writing. You can tell people in person if you’d like. You can also add how much you enjoyed working there or some other niceties if you’d like.

Google examples on this. It doesn't have to be more than a paragraph. Best wishes with school.

Keep it very short. To whom it May Concern: please accept this as my resignation. Thank you for the opportunity. My last date will be xxxx,xxxx,2024.

Do not provide details or any reason.
