it is tough out there finding a new job; what seems to me is that you have a conscience of good work ethic, which we are so quickly losing in our work environments! It desperately needs to be re-established, but don't see that happening too soon. I am interviewing for a job that has horrible reviews and yet, out of a NEED for a job I am still going for it. I hear so much of what you are saying and I still have difficulty accepting that this might be the environment I might be coming into as well. I have tried time and time again to work outside of an office, etc., alas, I am back to taking work where ppl are more there for gossip, management gaslighting (how do they manage to get the job?). Feeling like that target perhaps is because you are not conforming to their so called behaviours, and good for you! Is there anyone you can warm up to as a friend there, be observant to having ppl see you for your good ethics, etc?

I'm sorry you're in this — that feeling of being a target in a workplace full of gaslighting is exhausting, and it's understandable to be losing hope while you're still stuck there. A few things that can help in the meantime: keep a private record of what happens, with dates and what was said, so you're not relying on memory when things get twisted; try to get key instructions or agreements in writing where you can; and lean on people outside work who know your work ethic, because that kind of environment can really wear down how you see yourself. On the job search, I know fast feels urgent, but a focused search usually works better than applying everywhere — pick the roles and employers that feel like a genuinely better fit, tailor each application, and let people in your network know what you're looking for. You're right that not every workplace is like this, and a hard worker who wants to grow does well in a healthy one. Rooting for you to find your way out.
