Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

Im an instructor at a college and the student president asked me to go online and fill out the application for Program Manager. The previous manager left and since Im the only full time IT instructor I was told to put the application in. I was handling the job of a program director until the position was filled. So I did just as she asked. When I heard that someone else got the job I felt some kind of way. When I asked about the application being submitted I was told they didn't see the application I submitted because the student president resigned before the job was filled. Just want to know what you think about this issue.

It sounds as if they are disorganized at best and certainly aren't giving you the recognition or appreciation you deserve. I suggest just doing your job and not going above and beyond while looking for work elsewhere. Quit when you get a better offer somewhere else.

Agree with other, it seems disorganized and I have personally gone above and beyond at my job and was passed over for promotion. They got an external candidate. Just keep looking elsewhere and get a better job offer, leave. Always plan an exit strategy.

At all of the colleges and universities, ‘student president’ means ‘president of the student government,’ a position occupied by a student. Students are not legally allowed to hire staff or faculty unless employed by the college and part of a hiring committee (but they get no vote). I recommend making an appointment with HR right away, as this is not legal.

Oh that is just RUDE! Wow, I would not be happy, though if you want to remain, you'll need to keep your composure and basically get over it. Look into additional opportunities to move up if available.

They wanted to show numbers . To get over the awkward situation they made up a lack of awareness. Unethical but they were balancing a need to demonstrate interest and getting someone in the role.

    Why are you signing V/r?

I believe it means very respectfully. It’s similar to regards or best. The abbreviation tells me this could be part of her normal signature block.

if I’m wrong about the v/r, then someone will correct me or you can google it too.
