AI/Chat GPT - an asset or liability?

AI/Chat GPT - an asset or liability?

I am finding that this whole AI craze is becoming more negative than positive. When it first came out, there were some benefits, but now companies are using it for many of their daily activities thus eliminating the human and personal touch that make companies unique. It is also making some companies lazy and takes away from their core values. Additionally, companies are laying off people because it is replacing many responsibilities of humans.

Please share how AI has benefited or hindered the success of your company, or provide any insights on this topic.

Thanks.

I agree. When used correctly... as a tool... AI is fantastic for streamline some of those more redundant processes and workflows. But when used incorrectly, it's more of a bane than a boon. I've seen it eliminate many jobs already. Some say, it takes the job of the lesser experienced and skilled, but I've seen some more experienced workers in my field report contracts terminated in favor of AI replacement. So, it depends. I think if you're in an at-risk industry or role, it's a good time to upskill and cross train on complementary skills. Make yourself more valuable than the machine.

I am getting so tired of AI Customer Service chatbots. I was trying to talk with a human on the phone, and they suggested I go to chat in the support section of their website. When I asked the question, I gave too much information, so they kept repeating the same questions. The one thing that I find alarming is that the world is going from "it's on the internet, so it has to be true," to "AI said it so it has to be true." AI is only as intelligent as the programmer who programmed it and the data it was fed. I am finding that some are better than others. It has a long way to go, and I am afraid that it will take away a lot of jobs while providing less service to those who are required to use it. I somewhat equate it to the self-checkout at the grocery stores.

It depends on what you’re doing with it. AI hallucinates and uses pre-existing material to fill its knowledge. It’s easy for it to give wrong information and unless you catch that, the info will get out there.

Students are also unaware that AI can create lies by misconstruing info. I’ve caught several students that way because the analogical reasoning is off and they can’t tell.

I use it daily for writing basic drafts on topics I already know. I do a lot of corporate writing and I say the same thing over and over so sometimes I just need an idea of how to say something in a different way. It does 75% of the early work and gets me started. I create a ton of social media and I use it the same way.—especially on days when I just can’t get creative about some thing I’ve already said 20 times. I use it to make lists and organization projects. I use it to organize my brain dumps of information. I used it to get me started on something where I need more information but I don’t want to read 10 articles to get me started. You cannot rely on it as the final piece for factual data or writing projects, but it is a helpful tool. I imagine in the old days when spellcheck came out people were afraid of it because they thought we would all become dumb and not know how to spell. I know how to spell but I still use that tool for corrections. On a broader scale, for humanity, it might be a disaster, but if I need 10 recipes that include chickpeas, I don’t want to watch 10 videos about each chef’s fascination with chickpeas. It is like a search engine: know your sources and know that the Internet is full of misinformation, but use it as a tool.

I hear you. Change is hard. Radio to TV. Typewriters to Computers. Pay Phones to Smart Phones. These changes were all equally uncomfortable. You can learn to ride the wave of change or get swept up in the undertow. Learn as much as you can about how to leverage AI to fill gaps — align with core values and add value to your organization.

I love the various AI apps available, they same me hours of time (I keep everything anonymous), especially with administrative tasks. For example, I had to plan a QBR for my dept., I asked the model to give me a recommended structure for my discipline (IT as opposed to Sales), then draft the inteoductory memo announcing the QBR. Then I tweaked the responses to make sure everything aligned to what my leadership was looking for. Bottomline, in 15 mins, I had a fully-structured QBR agenda and intro email to the leadership team...previously, this qould have involved searching on the web for ideas, putting it together, then crafting and re-crafting the email. I also used it to redesign my personal website, it took me 4 hours (and was free!) to redo my entire site. The first time I developed and launched my site, it took me 2 months (working evenings).

Yes, change is hard, but it is here to stay. I share with my colleagues that instead of resisting, they should embrace it, and if they are early career, specialize in a field (ie, data, AI, ML, etc.) and move away from the basic, standard roles (ie, basic web dev.)

Everyone was convinced Wikipedia would destroy education and instead we just found new tools. AI detection software will get better.

Hi, AI becomes an asset when it supports people rather than replaces their judgment. This is especially useful in event planning, where AI can organize submissions, manage speaker information, and spot scheduling conflicts while people make the final decisions. I’ve found tools like https://agendaforge.app useful for reducing repetitive work while keeping human oversight.

I installed Atomic Chat https://atomic.chat/ at a time when I was trying to reduce the number of cloud tools involved in my daily workflow. I had several documents on my computer that I regularly used for planning, and I wanted an AI assistant that could help me analyze them without making me upload everything somewhere else.

AI is definitely turning into such a game-changer for daily workflows and boosting efficiency. We actually streamlined our training datasets for smart tech recently using annotation for manufacturing tools, and the boost in model accuracy made a huge difference. Absolutely agree that leveraging these tools saves so much valuable time!

    HI

AI tools like Chat GPT can save significant time when used for research, brainstorming, and repetitive work. Still, human review is important for accuracy, context, and originality. Businesses can also benefit from a solid SEO strategy to make useful content easier to discover online: https://advenixsolutions.com/
